About the choir

Who are they?

The Chanterelles are a group of friends who were part of the Chanterelles Youth Choir which was a non- auditioned all girls choir aged 12-19 years who were formed in 1991 as part of Leicestershire Arts in Education. In 2001 the youth choir came to an end but, after 8 years apart, in 2009 the choir decided to get back together and is now an adult choir made up of ladies who live all over the country that were members of the original Chanterelles Youth Choir. The choir is conducted by Shirley Court.

What are their achievements?

In the Year 2000 the Choir went to the First Choir Olympics held in Linz in Austria where they won a Silver Medal.

They have produced 2 Cd’s one made in 1997 and the other in 2001.

Why are they so successful?

Their successes are due to the quality of their sound, but more importantly due their ability to communicate their enjoyment and love of singing in a highly disciplined and professional manner.
